Episode sharing flashes of HIS Divinity

He reveals flashes of His Divinity at times purposefully to bless and show the world that He is indeed the finer essence of our very being. Sri K. R. K. Brat wrote in the 1968 April issue of Sanathana Sarathi a small, yet beautiful episode sharing these flashes of Divinity ... Read on...

On Guru Poornima Day, there was a big gathering of devotees from all parts of India at Prasanthi Nilayam, a gathering of at least a few thousands. I had no chance all these years of receiving from Baba's Hands the sanctifying Amrith that He distributes on holy festivals. So I was anxious to be present and to receive it. The devotees had arranged themselves in rows along the verandah and porch and the open spaces opposite the Nilayam expecting Baba to come through there and give the nectar that thrills the soul.
A few minutes before the arrival of Baba, a volunteer asked us, under directions, to go into the Prayer Hall and sit in lines there; for, Baba will enter the Hall and give Amrith there also. Only two or three of us responded and went into the Hall. The rest remained where they were. Meanwhile, Baba started distributing the nectar to the people on the verandah and those who received it came into the Prayer Hall, for it was nearing Bhajan time. The volunteers did not allow us to move out of the Hall to where Baba was; the rule is that no one should disturb others by getting up in the middle and walking towards the door. I prayed to Baba to take pity on me.
After about an hour, Baba entered the Prayer Hall. Seeing a few devotees like me who had not received the Amrith, He summoned for the vessel, and graciously distributed it to those few. He came near me; I was overjoyed that my prayers had been answered; but, to my surprise, He said that I had already received it at His Hands! I could not understand Him. I begged Him to bless me with the Amrith He had in His hand, saying I had not received it. With a smile and a look full of mercy, He said, "All right! Have your second dose!" and poured into my palm a spoonful of the nectar.
After the Bhajan, I returned to my room, with mixed feelings, and sat before the portrait of Baba in my prayer room. To my great astonishment, I saw drops of Amrith, trickling down from that photograph. Baba had given me the first dose of Amrith in my room, in answer to my prayers. What He gave me in the Prayer Hall was the second dose!

O, Sarvajna, Sarvasaktha, Sarvantharyami, Deenadayapara! I surrender at Thy Feet.

Know why we say "SAIRAM"

When you meet each other, do not shout hello or bye-bye, or some silly chatter.
Let the moment of meeting be sanctified by the remembrance of God.
Say, Ram Ram, or Om, or Hari Om, or Sai Ram.
Sathya Sai Speaks X, Chap. 14
The quote from Swami (above) states in a nutshell why we greet someone with "Sai Ram". It is a remembrance of God, the one God that IS the other person and ourselves.

In Bavaria, southern Germany, many people greet each other with "Gruess Gott", which means "Greet God". Same idea!

When greeting someone with "Sai Ram", try to think of greeting not only the worldly body that you see but our SAI in that person. We could use any name of God; it is the intent and feeling that counts. We have happened to choose "Sai Ram" because of the universal appeal of that name as a mantra. (Some devotees do repetition of the Name --namasmarana-- with "Om Sri Sai Ram", repeating "Om Sri" on the inbreath and "Sai Ram" on the outbreath.)

The word "Sai" can be split into two: "Sa" and "Ai". We have been told that "Sa" means universal father, while "Ai" stands for universal mother. Sathya Sai Baba, our Sai, is our mother and father.

"Ram" can be viewed as a shortening of "Rama". One interpretation of this word is that "Ra" is the Fire Principle, which burns all to ash, while "ma" stands for maya or illusion, so together, they mean the destruction of illusion.

Sai Baba has said also that "Rama" means "He who pleases, fills with bliss, causes delight", that "Rama" means the joy that comes from love.

Meaning of Mahamrityunjay Mantra

WHAT IS THE MEANING OF  MAHA MRITYUNJAY MAHAMANTRA

                                     Om Tryambakam Yajamahe
                               Sugandhim Pushthi Vardhanam
                               UrvaRukamiv bandhanat
                             Mrytyor Muksheeya Mamritat ||

It is important to understand the meaning of the words as this makes the repetition meaningful and brings forth the results.
OM is not spelt out in the Rig-Veda, but has to be added to the beginning of all Mantras as given in an earlier Mantra of the Rig-Veda addressed to Ganapati.
TRYAMBAKKAM refers to the Three eyes of Lord Shiva. 'Trya' means 'Three' and Ambakam' means eyes. These three eyes or sources of enlightenment are the Trimurti or three primary deities, namely Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva and the three 'AMBA' (also meaning Mother or Shakti' are Saraswati, Lakshmi and Gouri. Thus in this word, we are referring to God as Omniscient (Brahma), Omnipresent (Vishnu) and Omnipotent (Shiva). This is the wisdom of Brihaspati and is referred to as Sri Duttatreya having three heads of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva.
YAJAMAHE: means, "We sing Thy praise".
SUGANDHIM: refers to His fragrance (of knowledge, presence and strength i.e. three aspects) as being the best and always spreading around. Fragrance refers to the joy that we get on knowing, seeing or feeling His virtuous deeds.
PUSTIVARDHANAM: Pooshan refers to Him as the sustainer of this world and in this manner, He is the Father (Pater) of all. Pooshan is also the inner impeller of all knowledge and is thus Savitur or the Sun and also symbolises Brahma the Omniscient Creator. In this manner He is also the Father (Genitor) of all.
URVAAROKAMEVA: 'URVA' means "VISHAL" or big and powerful . 'AAROOKAM' means 'Disease'. Thus URVAROOKA means deadly and overpowering diseases. The diseases are also of three kinds caused by the influence (in the negative) of the three Guna's and are ignorance (Avidya etc),falsehood (Asat etc as even though Vishnu is everywhere, we fail to perceive Him and are guided by our sight and other senses) and weaknesses (Shadripu etc. a constraint of this physical body and Shiva is all powerful).
BANDANAAM: means bound down. Thus read with URVAROOKAMEVA, it means 'I am bound down by deadly and overpowering diseases'.
MRITYORMOOKSHEYA: means to deliver us from death (both premature deaths in this Physical world and from the never-ending cycle of deaths due to re-birth) for the sake of Mokshya (Nirvana or final emancipation from re-birth).
MAAMRITAAT means 'please give me some Amritam (life rejuvenating nectar). Read with the previous word, it means that we are praying for some 'Amrit' to get out of the death inflicting diseases as well as the cycle of re-birth.
